The Department of Biological Sciences at Wayne State University has a tenure-track opening for new faculty, at either the Assistant Professor or tenured Associate or Full Professor level.
We seek an individual studying fundamental problems in microbiology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, postdoctoral experience, and accomplishments appropriate for the level of appointment. A record of outstanding achievement, a promising research program, and a commitment to teaching and service are more important than the particular subdiscipline of microbiology. We are particularly interested in applicants who use innovative theoretical and/or experimental approaches to advance our mechanistic understanding of living systems. Scientists engaged in multidisciplinary translational research are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to develop and maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, to participate in graduate and undergraduate education, and to participate in service to the department, college, and university.
