The largest medical laboratory in New Mexico, TriCore Reference Laboratories provides comprehensive medical testing to a statewide network of Hospitals, Physicians, and other healthcare providers.  TriCore is conducting a national search to identify an experienced manager to help direct the Infectious Disease department located in our core laboratory in Albuquerque, NM.  The Infectious Disease department encompasses molecular and classic methodologies for bacteriology, virology, mycology, mycobacteriology, and research and serves 3 local hospitals, 5 regional hospitals and a large outreach business. This individual will be responsible for the technical performance and operational management of the department, including oversight of 5 technical supervisors/technical specialists and 50 staff members, budget, quality assurance, compliance, and coordination of activities with other areas of the organization and with internal and external customers. The position will work closely with appropriate medical/scientific director(s) and Infectious Disease department leadership regarding decisions relating to patient care, technical performance, quality and finances.  Strong leadership abilities and communication skills are required.  The work is challenging and the position requires high degree of personal initiative and decision-making capabilities to execute tactics designed to achieve specified goals.  Work situations range from laboratory to managerial, including interaction with outside customers, both private and public, and internal departments.  The minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or relevant science with ASCP certification or equivalent.  Five (5) years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.  Three (3) years management experience is required. M.S. or Ph.D. preferred.
