In 2010 The Forsyth Institute will embark on its second century by moving to a new research facility in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Part of our mission is to expand the faculty's research impact at the host-oral biofilm interface by seeking Ph.D. or Ph.D./D.M.D./M.D. applicants for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Member of the Staff position in the Department of Immunology at Forsyth. This position, supported under the P30 mechanism, is designed to attract appropriately trained postdoctoral fellows or junior investigators (no previous tenure-track appointment) to explore one or more of the following research areas: (1) interplay of innate / adaptive immune systems and bioflims, possibly using germfree/gnotobiotic models; (2) mucosal vaccinology; or (3) autoimmunity. The successful candidate should have significant publications in high-impact journals and be poised to develop a full-time, independently supported career in oral health research.  Forsyth offers new, state of the art research facilities, equipment and support. The recruitment package will include startup costs and technical assistance. The position is available immediately. A joint university appointment will be considered through our affiliation with the Harvard School of Dental Medicine/Harvard Medical School.
