American Academy of Microbiology 2010 Election Results
The American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) is pleased to announce the 2010 election results.
AAM Fellows have reelected Edward G. Ruby, Professor and Vice Chair, Medical Microbiology and Immunology, University of Wisconsin, Madison, to the Board of Governors (BOG). Joining the BOG is Gerald R. Fink, Professor, Molecular Genetics, MIT, and Member, Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, Cambridge, Mass.
The BOG sets strategic direction for the AAM, ratifies election to Fellowship, develops new topics for colloquia, and establishes new programs and initiatives consistent with its overall mission. The three year terms begin 1 July 2010.
Caroline S. Harwood, Gerald and Lyn Grinstein Endowed Professor in Microbiology, University of Washington, Seattle, and Stephen Lory, Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and Director, Center for Genomic Applications and Therapeutics, Harvard Medical School, and Director, Small Molecule Screening Core Facility, New England Regional Center of Excellence for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases Research, Cambridge, Mass., were elected to the Committee on Elections (COE). Their five year terms also begin 1 July 2010. The COE is responsible for examining the credentials of nominees to Fellowship and making election recommendations to the BOG.
