The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University invites applicants for a clinical or tenure-track faculty position in virology at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. Interested applicants must possess a D.V.M./Ph.D. with advanced training in virology, and should also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The incumbent will serve as the Section Head of Mammalian Virology/Immunology at the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory at Penn State. In addition, tenure-track position candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an externally funded research program and participate in teaching programs and other service activities. A competitive salary and startup package is available and will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate. The Animal Diagnostic Laboratory (ADL) is part of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians accredited tripartite Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System (PADLS) (http://www.padls.org). The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences has taken a lead role in meeting new challenges in basic sciences related to animal and human health, and contains a critical mass of multidisciplinary faculty (http://www.vetsci.psu.edu). Many of the Department faculty members are affiliated with the Center for Molecular Immunology and Infectious Disease (http://vbs.psu.edu/research/cmiid), the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (http://www.cidd.psu.edu/), and the Huck Institutes of Life Sciences (http://www.lsc.psu.edu) at Penn State.
