The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics in the Medical School of the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston invites exceptional applicants for two open-rank, tenure-track positions. Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and several years of postdoctoral experience. The Department has existing strengths in bacterial and fungal model systems. Newly constructed laboratory space, including a BSL-3 facility, is available, as are generous startup packages. Successful applicants will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded research program and contribute to graduate and medical education. The position affords a competitive salary and unparalleled opportunities to interact with basic scientists, as well as clinical and translational researchers. As part of the Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center, our faculty enjoy rich interactions with neighboring institutions including Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University and the Texas A&M Institute of Bioscience and Technology. The breadth and quality of biomedical science in the Texas Medical Center rivals that of any academic medical center in the world.
