The Department of Microbiology at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (http://web.bio.utk.edu/micro/) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of bacterial pathogenesis.
Candidates with significant training and a strong publication record with active research interests in an area that may involve mechanisms of pathogenesis, host responses to infection, normal flora microbiomes in health and disease, as well as metagenomics, molecular evolution, or systems biology in relationship to pathogenic bacteriology are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a vigorous research program that will attract extramural funding and offer synergism with existing research in the University. The department and University offer extraordinary strengths in environmental and medical microbiology, and it is anticipated that the successful candidate may bridge these disciplines. The new faculty member is expected to have a central role in the teaching and training of graduate and undergraduate students in pathogenic bacteriology. A Ph.D. is required and two years post-doctoral experience preferred.
