The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University seeks candidates for an academic-year position at the Associate or Full Professor level in microbial pathogenesis. Applicants are sought with demonstrated expertise in molecular mechanisms of the evolution of pathogenicity, bacterial pathogenesis, microbial ecology of infectious diseases, genetics of virulence, or host-microbe interactions. Many opportunities exist for collaboration with other faculty with research interests in these areas in the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis, Center for Microbial Ecology, National Food Safety and Toxicology Center, and the Center for Water Sciences. The person who fills this position will be expected to build and lead collaborative groups and to mentor junior faculty. A strong record of research accomplishment and an independent, externally  funded research program with national visibility are required. Teaching within our graduate, professional, and/or undergraduate programs is expected. The offer will include a competitive startup package and laboratory facility.
