Two positions are available immediately at the University of Maryland Baltimore (UMB) to investigate surface proteins of Chlamydia trachomatis.
These positions are integrated in the UMB-based NIH STD-Cooperative Research Center "Eco-Pathogenomics of Chlamydial Reproductive Tract Infection." Specific projects include comparative genomic and phenotypic analyses of C. trachomatis clinical isolates with a focus on the role of type III secretion in chlamydial development and pathogenesis and on a mechanism of antigenic variation involving a family of autotransported polymorphic membrane proteins. A Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular or cell biology or biochemistry is required.
